Class 2 welcome year 5 and 6 into their class weekly to do guided reading together. Class 2s read their books to them, and then the year 5 and 6s choose them a book to read. It was a wonderful session seeing the children interact and reading with each other.
Class 3 & 4 have been testing to see if the amount of exercise someone does has an impact on the strength of their thigh muscles.
They went out to the playground to put their thigh muscles and theories to the test! It was just amazing to see them collect and discuss data to help them come to scientific conclusions.
Upper school went to Holland Park for their first Forest School session of the year.
They worked as part of a team to construct dens, learnt how to make a fire and went on plenty of woodland explorations.
At the end of the day, they roasted marshmallows over an open fire as they spoke about their favourite adventures in the woods!
Time To Shine
Parents were invited into their child's classroom to view the learning they have been doing so far this term. This was a lovely chance to celebrate the children's successes and for parents to see what the children have been up to inside the classroom.
Problem Solving with Year 6
Year 6 enjoyed problem-solving using their place value knowledge, they had 6 different sets of symbols and had to identify and match the value of each symbol to our number system.
This problem consolidated their understanding of place value in a demanding but intriguing context. It also developed their mathematical language and reasoning skills.
YR 3-6 enjoyed recitals from Ms. Davidson that demonstrated all the musical capabilities of the violin. Ms. Davidson moved effortlessly between styles, performing virtuosic classical works, Irish fiddling, and even song requests from students.
For those students who were particularly inspired to learn the violin, Ms. Davidson has lesson slots available on Mondays.
