FROM THE HEAD
Do you know our school motto - and what it means to us?
|
|
Our school motto is 'Nurturing Success' - and for the whole team at Cameron Vale, it is more than just strap line. It encaptures our whole ethos and approach to learning.
At Cameron Vale, we passionately believe that by nurturing children’s character, we openly address their strengths, acknowledge those areas that need further development and equip them with a blueprint of behaviours for success in life. In the dictionary, character is defined as the sum total of the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual; it is what makes one different. Character is what separates the good from bad.
And as we start a new school year, I want to remind everyone of our 5 core values, and these are the values that are constantly referred to as children move through the school:
Be Collaborative
Be Courageous
Be Curious
Be Creative
Be a Critical Thinker

FROM THE HEADS FOR A DAY
Today was a very special day for Rafi and Kamil Bonnier who won the chance to be 'Head for a Day' in our Charity Auction, held last term.
They started the day - dressed very smartly indeed - welcoming children and staff at the front door.
|
|
Mr Bonnier and Mr Bonnier helped out at the Friday Music Assembly, and kindly rewarded their friends' wonderful singing (with actions) with a healthy snack as they left.
In the next School Newsletter, there will be an interview with the Heads, and they will tell us all about the day they were Headteachers of Cameron Vale School.

Our new pupil Head of School and Deputy Head will be announced next Tuesday, during assembly.
Nominees Caleb and Eva both gave their speeches to the whole Assembly, outlining why they would like to be Head or Deputy Head of School.
Good luck to both - and here are their speeches in full:

I would like to tell you why you should vote for me as Head of School of Lower School.
Anyone that ever meets me always notices something straight away about me… something that makes me stand out… that’s right… I am really…. friendly… oh… and I’m a little tall.
But don’t let my height put you off. I really enjoy taking care of people; especially those who are smaller than me… that’s a lot of people. For example, at the barbeque at the Hurlingham Club this year, I saw some of the children from the younger years going to a dark place out in the forest and I said, “Guys you shouldn’t go there,” and got them to think about their actions and the consequences of them. Additionally, I saw a baby running and I called him to come back.
I am someone you can trust as I am very honest. I am also considerate and thoughtful.
I don’t play rough in the playground. I am also great at including other children in the playground so no one plays alone. So, when new children join the school, I always make sure they are included. Support me with my application as Head of Lower School and we’ll make this an amazing year!
And here is what I want for the school:
- That we play nicely together
- We are all friends
- We stand by each other and support each other
- I promise I will listen to pupils and also teachers
- I will take my responsibilities as head of school seriously.
- Let’s make Cameron Vale great again!

I want to be the Head of the Upper School so I decided to deliver a speech in the hope of receiving your support. When I first stepped into this school I was so nervous but then I realised this school is incredibly wonderful! This school became my second home. I want to be the Head of the School because I have a lot of ideas to make this place better. Not that it’s not good enough but we can always improve.
I’m kind and friendly. I'm helpful, like helping Miss Saul, I’m friends with everyone! I’m a role model for everyone. I want everyone to enjoy school, for example; let’s take Nika. She is Russian and she doesn’t speak English, YET! When she was here for her first day, I remembered how nervous I was in her shoes. I could empathise with her. So I decided to help her by saying in Russian: “You don’t have to be afraid. You will have a lot of friends and a wonderful time here.” Then I told her how I felt on my first day of school so she could relate.
I like to donate to charity because some people are in big trouble and can’t cope with it and as a school, we can help! We are a team at Cameron Vale and can make this world a better place if we put our mind to it. I’m comfortable with speaking in front of the school and parents and represent the school at events.
As a final point, I want to enjoy my last year with my friends, my amazing teachers, Miss Saul and the rest of the Cameron Vale community!
Thank you for listening!

We would like to say a great big 'Thank You' for all the generous donations to our Harvest Festival Collection in aid of the UK Harvest charity.
On Friday we had a special Assembly where the children sang special Harvest songs and they earned about Harvest and Thanksgiving customs from around the world.

Well done to all those who took part in the Summer Reading Challenge!
All children received recognition for their participation in assembly this week - Reception to Year 6 readers received a special bookmark, and Years 2-3 received their special certificate of merit.

Have you met the school Chimp?
|
|
Normally found sitting in Miss Saul's office, this cute little chap has been venturing out into the school and was 'helping' out in Miss Dubajic's music class today.
Our new Reception joiners may already be friends with their own chimp - but our one has no name!
If your child would like to suggest a name for the chimp, please ask them to tell Miss Saul!

Class 6 were exploring the Jewish festival of Rosh Hashanah; by listening to the different notes blown by the shofar, tasting apples and honey and learning Hebrew phrases such as 'Shana Tova'.
They also discussed the importance of saying sorry and reflecting on our actions from the previous year, which is an important part of Tashlich.

Our Year 3&4s had the most amazing opportunity to experience a day in a Viking village.
They took part in some fantastic workshops which allowed them to learn Viking skills as weavers, writers and artists, and learned about archaeology.
The children took part in an excavation where they discovered some interesting artefacts from the past and identified who they belonged to.

Over the summer holidays, our builders were busy expanding the nursery, building a brand new baby Room, and moving the school office from the ground to the first floor.
Our nursery children have enjoyed exploring their new innovative learning environment, created to delight and inspire, with more space and facilities to enjoy.
We will open the doors on our new Baby Room in January 2023. If you would like to book a tour of the facilities, please use the form HERE.

This week our budding artists continued their work inspired by their visit last week to a local gallery, where they met the artist Tiffany Anna.
They really enjoyed the animal paintings with gems and gold, they also loved the cosmo collection that glows just like the Cosmos under UV light, and had the opportunity to try on the VR headsets that was part of the collection.
