French at Cameron Vale
At Cameron Vale School, French is a core part of our curriculum. With 2.5 hours of French each week, we give pupils the meaningful immersion they need to grow into articulate, curious, and globally minded young people. Pupils gain the exposure, continuity, and cultural understanding needed to make genuine progress.
Our specialist French teacher brings experience from both British and French school systems, enabling us to offer a rich, tailored programme that prepares pupils for senior school, top sets, and scholarship pathways.
Building Strong Foundations
Regular, sustained exposure anchors learning. With 2.5 hours a week, pupils develop:
-
A solid grasp of French grammar and conjugation
-
An understanding of how the language works, not just vocabulary
-
The confidence to build and use their own sentences independently
Learning another language is learning a new way to think about things. Flora Lewis, Journalist
Our lessons weave in cultural understanding, helping pupils appreciate different perspectives and develop global awareness. These skills matter for senior school, university, and future careers.
Learning a foreign language from a young age strengthens neural connections and builds cognitive flexibility. Research shows that bilingual learners become more agile thinkers, something that supports progress across the curriculum.
French also provides a strong foundation for other languages, including Latin, Greek, Spanish, Italian and German thanks to similar grammatical structures.
Learning in the Heart of London’s French Community
Our location in central Chelsea places us at the centre of a vibrant French hub. The French Embassy, Consulate, Lycée Charles de Gaulle, and the Institut Français are all on our doorstep.
Pupils benefit from:
-
Workshops and cultural events
-
Film screenings (recently La Belle Époque)
-
Visits to French restaurants to practise ordering food
-
Authentic, real‑world language experiences
These opportunities bring the language to life and deepen pupils’ cultural understanding.
