Lower School

Overview

The lower school is an extension of our early years foundation stage where your child's passion and thirst for learning will continue to grow. We recognise how important it is to build confidence at this stage of a child’s learning and allow plenty of opportunities for your child to succeed and flourish in the classroom, building on their skills, knowledge and understanding, as well as introducing new challenges as they become independent learners.

The Lower School Curriculum

In Years 1 and 2, we embrace a broad, balanced and creative curriculum where your child is encouraged to challenge themselves and reach their full potential. Emphasis is placed on establishing firm foundations in English and maths and is supported by a broad and balanced curriculum designed to encourage academic achievement and creativity. Art, DT, computing, geography, history and science coupled with specialist teaching in French, music and physical education ensures that the learning experience for your child is inspiring and engaging.

We promote a love of learning through a range of exciting projects that bring the National Curriculum to life. These projects – designed to make learning meaningful – enable your child to learn through positive experiences and hands-on activities. Our principal aim is to develop inquisitive and successful learners, as we believe that this is the key to personal happiness, high self-esteem and self-confidence. Classes remain deliberately small, to ensure the closest possible attention is given to your child.

Our five core values underpin all aspects of your child's learning throughout school. They support the personal, social and spiritual development of each child in our care as they journey through the school.
